Plant Protein
I know the gym maniacs are gonna roll their eyes at first but plant based protein is WHERE THE PARTY’S AT! Designer proteins are well and lovely, but your body often does not get the memo that they are red carpet VIPs and they instead get stuck with the bouncer. Plant based protein comes from real food and therefore is highly absorbable.
WHY NOT WHEY?!?!
- Whey is high in cholesterol. This is a bigger problem if you are training to be the next American Ninja Warrior.
- Whey has a rapid absorption rate. But fast is good right? Wrong. The speed taxes the kidneys and liver significantly. When that happens the utilization of the protein decreases. Chugging 40 grams of protein does not equal your body digesting all of it. You are gonna poop most of it out. That’s expensive poop and to boot counterproductive.
- Unless it’s organic, because whey comes from cow’s milk, I’ll let your imagination run wild with the added fun of antibiotics, puss, steroids, and heavy metals.
YUCK! WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?!?!?
May I recommend PEAS? You guys, GIVE PEAS A CHANCE!!! Peas are a high fiber, low calorie, nutrient dense superfood. Protein from peas satisfies all FAO essential amino acid requirements. What else?
- Peas aid in muscle tissue replacement
- Promotes a healthy heart
- Facilitates calcium absorption
- Increases metabolism and satiety (helps you feel fuller longer)
Cranberry protein is the only 100% plant protein that contains 25% complete proteins including all essential amino acids. The protein is extracted using a cold press technology preserving nutrients and increasing absorption. YOWZA! What else?
- Helps relieve stress and depression
- Treats skin conditions such as acne, dermatitis, and psoriasis
- Increases good cholesterol and decreases the bad
- Boosts immune system
- Powerful detoxifier that flushes out your kidneys
Brown rice you guys! After being ground into flour and added to water, the best parts are extracted leaving you a protein that is pure, hypoallergenic, and easily digested.
- Fun fact: after 4 hours, the body can digest over 86% of brown rice protein. Compare that to 57% of soy digestibility. Eat your heart out soy! I’m going to the prom with brown rice this year!
The craziest part is when these three join forces, Captain Planet shows up! AND you get the best tri-fecta of protein the world has to offer! So get out there and be somebody!!!!!!!!
Read YO labels and feed yourselves the good stuff to carry onward and MAKE THOSE TIPS!!!!
