Mind Garbage
We are all guilty of it. The mind demons of comparison and unworthiness. FUCK THOSE GUYS! Seriously, the world has so much negativity these days why add more to your stress and insecurities? I’ll just out the elephant in the room, there is a major asshole here and the asshole is YOU!!!! Sorry not sorry. Words have power and we all need to take a moment to love on ourselves and cut the mental crap. It’s exhausting, no? I challenge you to take these 10 phrases and BAN them from your thoughts. Replace them with LOVE and ENCOURAGEMENT. We all have an inner badass so don’t be the person who boos in the crowd.
- “I CAN’T”………Nope. Begone you! Think of all the things you never thought you would do and yet you did. Maybe that’s a hideous piece of art you made in elementary school but you’d never done it before and you surprised YOURSELF when you finished. Become addicted to that feeling. “I CAN”.
- “I’LL BE HAPPY WHEN…” We all know this one. It’s a hamster wheel and you’re the fucking hamster. Find delight in the now. It’s amazing to have goals but we all know once we get there we will only have a new and crazier one. If the future is happiness you will never find it. “I CAN FIND HAPPINESS RIGHT NOW”.
- “I DON’T HAVE TIME”…. You do, you just choose to focus your time on other things and that often is great! If it’s something that will bring joy into your life and your really want it, you’ll make time for it. “I ALWAYS HAVE TIME FOR WHAT IS IMPORTANT IN MY LIFE”.
- “YOU’RE NOT DOING GOOD ENOUGH”….Boy we are all guilty of this one. Comparison is DOOMSDAY! If you know deep down you are doing your best, be proud of yourself. I bet you fake internet dollars that someone else is watching you and wishing they could be as fabulous as you are. “YOU ARE ALWAYS GOOD ENOUGH”.
- “LOOK AT HOW FAT I AM!”….Love you body I beg of all of you. Everyone else loves you in your skin and so should you. If you want to gain weight or lose weight, you have the power to change but be mindful of loving yourself in the process. “LOOK AT HOW FANTASTIC I CARRY MYSELF IN MY SKIN”.
- “I’M UGLY”…. False. We are humans who enjoy talking to one another, eating tasty foods, and experiencing life. My best friends are not my closest confidants because they are super models. I am in love with them as people. So know that you have so much to give and unless you are literally the alien from Men in Black that came to earth and stole a human body…..you are beautiful. “I AM BEAUTIFUL”.
- “IT’S TOO STRESSFUL TO HANDLE.”…. Let me tell you a story about a young Julia who had a poster to make for spanish class. It was late and she was exhausted from all her extra-curricular activities. Instead of just making the poster super fast and going to bed, she had a meltdown and cried for two hours. This ended in her mom telling her to stop being a crybaby and to just fucking make the poster. I did the poster in 20 minutes and went to bed. The moral of this story is everything can be accomplished little by little but you have to START. Freaking out is literally a waste of time. “I CAN HANDLE STRESSFUL THINGS LIKE MOTHER TERESA ON ADDERALL”.
- “IT’S TOO LATE FOR ME TO…”….This one is just silly. We live longer healthier lives and we have all seen people in their 90’s learning new things. Learning is a gift and we have the opportunity to always change. “IT IS NEVER TOO LATE FOR ME TO…..”
- “WHAT WILL THEY THINK ABOUT ME”…..Fuck them. In the words of 3LW, “haters are gonna hate, and players are gonna play, ballers they gonna ball, shot callers they gonna call…it ain’t got nothing to doooooo with me and youuuuuuu, that’s the way it is….that’s the way it isssssssss.” “I DON’T CARE WHAT PEOPLE THINK”.
- “LIFE ISN’T FAIR, IF ONLY…”….We all have had the shittiest of times. What makes a person is what they do after. You are still alive so go be alive in life. “LIFE ISN’T FAIR FOR ANYONE BUT I MAKE LEMONADE OUT OF LEMONS EVERY DAMN TIME!”
Be good to yourself friends. We are stuck in our heads forever so be awesome to yourself. No one wants a jerk in their head.
Loving and positive thoughts, Julia
